OSHA is advancing a federal heat-injury and illness prevention standard while its 2026 Heat National Emphasis Program strengthens heat-focused inspection and enforcement activity across high-risk industries.

OSHA and NIOSH identify measures including shade or cool recovery areas, increased air movement, radiant-heat protection, hydration, rest, and other engineering or work-practice controls for managing occupational heat exposure.
